My degree is in law, which has probably made me rather pedantic when it comes to words. It seems I’m always saying, “It depends on your definition of…”. I was planning on becoming a barrister, but that idea ended spectacularly before it had even started. (But that’s a completely different story.)

Somehow, I ended up working in advertising. My debut copy was the headline “To Flora, a baby. Weight 7 grams.” for the launch of the eponymous sunflower spread’s catering portion packs.

I set up my own branding and design agency (my name is still above the door even though I sold up more than twenty years ago). I then worked at Wolff Olins, one of the world’s leading branding agencies, on a wide range of projects – small, large, local and global – before flying solo (again!). My other job is brand consulting and you can find out more here.

Along the way I’ve accumulated a lot of experience and written quite a few words for clients of all shapes and sizes.

I now live in Somerset in the beautiful South West. From my home studio (where I also run branding workshops), I write copy for local clients as well as those all over the UK, Europe and further afield.

I like helping businesses find, then tell, their story in a clear, simple, truthful and human way. This doesn’t have to be exclusively for companies or brands with big pockets. You’d be surprised how a relatively small investment in an experienced copywriter, with an objective perspective, can help. Think of it as building on your success, rather than a cost to your bottom line.
